Performance

Out of Stock

How has Target performed? For a company that is supposed to rise above Wal-Mart….it doesn’t seem too well. At least in its supply chain process.

A recent visit….resulted in observing basic items out of stock. These are items that have to be in stock….day in and day out. Don’t disappoint the customer. It’s not that there were not enough associates to stock….there were. Where was the merchandise?

In our business….we never left an empty space on the floor. There was always another item that took its place. No empty spots for us.

Merchandising is what makes a good retail business….you can’t sell from an empty wagon.

Update

Change

January has always been a time for making a change.

Doing what worked yesterday is always “the default option’. Thing is that doesn’t work anymore. (Tom Peters)

It’s time for some changes in the TrueNorth blog….it’s 2012….time to be different.

The recent (1.05.12) Kodak story is an exapmle of not changing fast enough. Kodak a 100+ year old company just hasn’t changed fast enouggh. Its stock has lost 90% of its value. News reports speak of bankruptcy.

While TrueNorth isn’t in the same position as Kodak….it’s time to update.
