Reacting quickly enough is often difficult for any business/organization. The tendency is to move slower rather than faster.
In our family business….we bought products that we thought customers would buy. Lead time could be from six weeks to four months. That was the easy part.
The more challenging part of the buy-sell process was to react to changing styles and preferences. We had to listen to the customer….readjust our buying strategy….and if a product no longer was wanted….move it out quickly.
Though we did pretty good….our batting average was not 100%.
