Last Saturday I did a three-hour workshop. There was a lot of material to cover….in the past this would have been an all-day event.
The primary reason was to instill some change in an organization that has been in existence for a very long time….with many traditions….some OK….others outdated.
Were the attendees willing to listen….perhaps. Change is always difficult to implement. John Kotter’s (Leading Change )….first criteria is to create a sense of urgency. If this group doesn’t change dramatically will it still exist? For a period of time it will….after all it has been there for many years.
The After Action Report (three + hours later): Will it be effective and relevant to a different segment of people? Can it develop a clear purpose for the future?
