From a recent article on Lego’s: “We don’t necessarily feel we’re competing with other toys or games”.
In our business, it was not just competition from the other home furnishings stores….it was competition from all businesses that were selling relatively high-end products.
So while Lego’s is an unique product….there is always competition in another form from other products. Like all purchases….customers have a choice. Often its needs versus wants.
We could not make that choice for the customer. What we did was to provide affordable products….effective marketing….outstanding service. The bottom line: we were selling our name and business.
There will always be competition….both direct and/or indirect.
