While waiting in the dental office….the conversation turned to office staff and another practice that was not doing well. The dentist was a good dentist….the staff not so good.
Medical/Dental practices are like any other business….providing a product/service to customers/patients. If done well….creating solid and pleasant patient relationships….the practice will be successful and profitable.
Several years ago in a conversation at the UNC Dental School….I asked if any business skills were taught. The answer was – not really.
I would suspect that in a practice that is not doing well….certain business skills are missing and even more so finding the right people all committed to building a successful/patient focused dental practice.
It is the people who define a business….it is the staff that defines a successful practice.
