Management consulting often is looking for things that are wrong. No matter how well-run a business or organization….an outside perspective can be very beneficial.
However, there are times when really nothing is dramatically wrong….the organization simply wants to be better or in some situations, leave the business with a good legacy.
That happened with one client. The family was dissolving the business….not because they had to….they wanted to enjoy their retirement years.
The client had emigrated to the US shortly after WW ll with $5! Most significant – the gentleman was a survivor of Auschwitz. After 35 years of building a successful business….they were ready to retire. Our job was to help them with that process.
Looking back….we were successful in accomplishing the clients objective….however more important was the feeling that we did good for them.
